APPROVAL OF SEPTEMBER MINUTES
Karen Lindgren made a motion to approve the
minutes of the September 10th meeting. Sherry
Frick seconded the motion: motion passed.
CHAMBER AFTER 5:00 RECAP
Chamber after 5:00 was a great success. It was
noted that a different group of people, who don't
normally make it to the luncheons, attended the
event.
Sponsors were discussed for the February Chamber
After 5:00. Although there are a few businesses
interested in sponsoring the event, the committee
members should actively seek sponsors.
ANNUAL DINNER SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT
David Marty invited Lilah Crowe, from the Itasca
County Historical Society to attend the meeting.
Lilah indicated that the Historical Society would
be willing to help with the 100th Anniversary of
the Chamber of Commerce in any way.
The committee discussed setting up a display of
the history of the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of
Commerce. Calendar sales were discussed but
decided against. The committee would like to have
a list of all the past presidents displayed. All
the past presidents who are still in the area will
be invited to attend the event. Bud advised the
subcommittee to be aware of the terminology
changes over the years. The Chair of the Board was
the Chairman or President and the President was at
one time the Executive Director.
David Marty made a motion to allocate $750.00 from
the proceeds of the Annual Dinner towards a
historical review of the Grand Rapids Area Chamber
of Commerce. Lynn DeGrio seconded the motion:
motion passed.
It was suggested that the invitations include a
sepia toned photo of the chamber staff.
Lilah stated that the train depot is this
years-commemorative building for the Historical
Society.
The cost of the dinner was $30.00 last year. This
year the price will be $35.00.
Lynn is working on the nametags, and Martie
volunteered to create a seating plan. The
Ambassadors will help with the seating. Karen
indicated that the auction is under control also.
UPCOMING PROGRAMS
The Grand Rapids Clinic and Itasca Medical Center
will be the speaker at the November Monthly
Luncheon. John Pratt will be speaking on behalf of
the MN Council of Non-Profits in December and
January will feature the Wells Fargo Economist.
It was suggested that a Jobs 2020 wrap-up be done
after March. The committee must find a speaker for
February and March 2003.
WORKSHOP DISCUSSION
Due to time constraints, this discussion was
tabled until the November meeting.
COMMITTEE MISSION STATEMENT / GOALS / PLAN OF
ACTION
The committee was asked to review the 2002 mission
statement and goals and be prepared for discussion
at the November meeting.

networking opportunity that is being started in
the Grand Rapids Area called Business Networking
International. An informational meeting will be
held at the Sawmill Inn. Contact Sherry for more
