The Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for upcoming seats on its Board of Directors.

Serving on the Chamber Board is an opportunity to bring your perspective to the table, help guide the priorities and direction of the organization, and be part of conversations that impact businesses throughout our area.

Why Serve?

As a Chamber Board member, you will have the opportunity to:

• Help shape Chamber priorities, programs, and advocacy efforts.
• Represent the perspectives and needs of our business community.
• Build relationships with business and community leaders.
• Contribute your experience, ideas, and perspective to the Chamber’s future.
• Help strengthen the business environment in the Grand Rapids area.

Who Are We Looking For?

We are looking for engaged, thoughtful leaders who care about business and our community and are willing to actively participate in the work of the Chamber.

Applicants must be affiliated with an active Chamber member business or organization, or hold an individual Chamber membership. We welcome applicants from different industries, backgrounds, business sizes, and areas of experience who can bring valuable perspectives to the table.

What Do We Need From You?

You do not need to have prior board experience or be an expert on every issue facing our business community. We are looking for Board members who are willing to:

• Show up and participate in Board discussions and decisions.
• Ask questions and bring your perspective to the table.
• Respond to Board email inquiries, including time-sensitive votes and requests for input.
• Represent the Chamber and its membership in a positive and professional way.
• Participate in and volunteer at Chamber events, as you are able.

What Is the Commitment?

Board terms are available for three years.

The Board meets eight times each year, typically over lunch on the last Monday of the month. There are no regular Board meetings in June, July, August, or December.

In addition to Board meetings, members should plan for occasional email communication and votes between meetings, along with participation in Chamber events and volunteer opportunities as schedules allow.

The average annual time commitment is approximately 15-20 hours.

We believe it is important for prospective Board members to understand the commitment before applying and to be prepared to actively participate throughout their term.
