Monthly Luncheon – Impossible Choices: An ALICE Simulation presented by United Way of 1000 Lakes

October 20 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm

NOTE! Date change to 3rd Monday in October.

11:45 Buffet begins; 12:00 Luncheon Starts; 1:00 Adjourn

Join us for a thought-provoking luncheon with United Way of 1000 Lakes, as they lead attendees through Impossible Choices, an interactive simulation that brings to life the tough financial decisions faced by ALICE households – those who are Asset-Limited, Income-Constrained, and Employed. These are our neighbors who work hard but struggle to afford basic essentials.

Through guided narration by United Way Board Member, Sara Rose and facilitation by Executive Director, Kim Brink Smith, attendees will experience the difficult trade-offs ALICE families make each day. You’ll be invited to vote on real-life scenarios and engage in table conversations designed to foster empathy, awareness, and a deeper understanding of the economic challenges impacting our community.

Whether you attended United Way’s Community Celebration in May, or are experiencing the simulation for the first time, it is a powerful opportunity to reflect on what it means to live on the financial edge, and why the work of organizations like United Way is so critical.

Bring a friend or colleague and be part of the conversation. Together, we can build a stronger, more resilient community.

$15*/ Member         $20*/Nonmembers
